Bergenstein Guitars is a small family owned shop ran by luthier Benjamin Bergenstein, located within the United States in northern Michigan.

Our focus is to create  exceptional handcrafted, high quality, custom voiced acoustic guitars. Each guitar is built with solid wood construction with personally selected tone woods providing exceptional tone, where our focus is on tonality over esthetics. 

Our current line-up consists of Dreadnought style guitars, each with custom voiced traditional X bracing, utilizing both modern and traditional neck shapes and radiuses which providing a more familiar feel for the player with exceptional tonality and quality. 

Unlike traditional luthier guitar shops, we do not take "custom" orders as the tonality and voicing characteristics of each guitar is unique and virtually impossible to pinpoint to a customers exact request specifications. 

We do however custom voice our models aiming for either more low end, midrange, or highs, in conjunction with other aspects such as the intended player use, climate,  and location, providing the most suited conditions for the guitar and player.

We provide extensive demos, and studio captured raw recordings of each model in our online showroom to help provide a non-bias sample of what the guitar will sound like when received.  

Our in-person showroom displays guitars currently available which you can actually hear and feel what you are getting as opposed to hoping the builder meets all of your expectations after you have prepaid and waited months for your build to arrive; alleviating any dissatisfaction or miscommunication from the process.
